- Add New Items Daily
Try to add at least one new item to your closet every day. Adding new items to your closet not only bumps you up in the search results (hello active closets!) but the goal here is to create more options for customers. I like shopping places that have variety – I’m all about having options and it’s reflected in my Poshmark Closet. It’s filled with different sizes and styles to give buyers more of a selection to choose from. Like that dress, here’s another in that same size. That top is cute but too small? Try this style a size up. I want my customers to spend time in my closet, I want them to filter through to their size and category and be able to scroll through many different options. The more items I have available, the better my odds are of having something that may catch their eye.
2. Add a “Meet the Posher” Page
If you don’t have one already, create a “Meet the Posher” Page! This is an opportunity for you to put a face to your closet and let people know who you are. The internet can be a scary place and being able to see who you’re buying from makes a big difference. I like to also keep my “Meet the Posher” page towards the top. Usually after I’m done sharing my closet, I’ll arrange it how I want it to look and then share my “Meet the Posher” page so it’s the first thing you see when you go to my closet. You can also include helpful information that might increase your chances of making that sale. Let them know you ship next day, inform them of your bundle discount, this is your chance to welcome prospective shoppers and let them know all the perks about shopping with you!
3. Be Assertive with Your Sales
Assertive, NOT aggressive. There’s a fine line between continuously tagging people in your new items to ask for the sale and giving someone a great deal on an item they have already expressed interest in. Know this line and don’t cross it! One of the things I love about shopping for hotels on Priceline is that if I search for something and don’t buy, most of the time I will get a coupon code sent to my email the next day. This is awesome! Why? The company knows I was looking for something or has some knowledge about a purchase I might be willing to make. Instead of being pushy with a sale they’re saying, hey I saw you liked this, here’s a few bucks to get it for a better price. I like that. I like the simplicity of it. Now, how do we create that same kind of vibe with our Posh Closet?
I create this same kind of offering by bundling likes for buyers. If someone comes to my page and likes 2 or 3 items, I’ll put them in to a bundle and make them a great offer that includes discounted shipping. It’s not so pushy to where they feel annoyed or obligated to buy, BUT they are likely to appreciate the reduced price and take advantage of buying all the things they liked together. Don’t be afraid to approach your buyer and ask for the sale but do it in a comfortable setting.
4. Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Do you ever feel like things just aren’t working? Items aren’t selling. Your page isn’t getting any attention. This is the biggest indicator for me that I need to do something different. Step outside your comfort zone and make some changes. Try a new backdrop. If you only sell women’s clothing, try adding some men’s pieces in to the mix. List or share at a different time of day. The point is that sometimes we just need fresh perspective. Just because we have always done it this way, doesn’t mean we should keep doing it that way. Switch it up! What’s the worst that could happen? You fail. SO WHAT! That just means you have another opportunity to try something else. There’s no “wrong” way to resell and different methods work for different people. If you’re not getting the results you want with what you are doing right now, what could use a pick me up? Analyze your product, your photos, everything and don’t fear change – attack it.
