Ready for some 2020 realness? The biggest thing standing in the way of what we want and where we want to be is….ourselves. But somehow I know that isn’t a surprise to you. It’s something that we already know and have accepted and yet we still choose to do nothing about it.
Our decisions, our planning (or lack of), our determination, our consistency, all of these things shape our lives and the future that we create for ourselves. So why don’t we do more? Why don’t we take those risks, put ourselves out there, follow through with the tasks or critical steps that need to be taken in order to drive us forward? I think the answer to that is pretty simple. We have allowed negative energy or perspectives and fear to steer us off the path and away from the things that we know that we can achieve.
We really need to think about that in order to figure out how to attack our goals, and to attack them relentlessly. We care so much about what people on the internet think of us, and how scary it might be to go after something that maybe won’t work out the way we want it to. But what if it does? What if it did work out? What if we finally stopped letting ourselves put so much energy into caring about what other people think of us, people that aren’t in the driver’s seat, shoot, that aren’t even in the car. What if we stopped allowing that to impact the way we feel about ourselves? How much more would we or could we do? How well could we execute our goals with blinders on shielding us from those negative opinions?
I know that I’m not where I want to be – yet. But I’m learning that in order to move forward you have to let go of that fear of the unknown, of the unpromised. I’m willing to give my all to my goals and to my dreams with the understanding that maybe it won’t quite be exactly what I want it to be. Or that maybe it’s going to take years longer than what I am willing to wait. But to me, I would rather pursue that and find the answer, than to wait or do nothing and never find out.
